Fresh and aromatic wine named after the "Giache Bianche" Beach, known for the white pebbles polished by the erosive action of the sea. An interesting change from the mainland Fiano. Sustainable, vegan and vegetarin. Fresh and fragrent on the nose. The pallet is fresh and mineral, with hints of aromatic herbs such as origano and mint. Being a versitile wine it will work with both slightly acidic and savoury dishes. In Italy it is commonly served with fish ans shellfish.
Vesevo as in Mount Vesuvius. This Campanian cracker is 100% Falanghina, vegan and vegetarian. A crisp, clean, dry and aromatic wine. Flowers n’ melon! Works a treat with shellfish or vegetarian shellfish.
If “Donald” from the USA is reading this? It’s a Greco from Tufo! 100% Greco from Tufo in Campania. Lemon gold colour. Stone fruit flavours on the palate and a lovely minerality. Alas the vegans dip out on this one as it’s only vegetarian. Partners delicate fish well such as Sole (if you like fish). Silver Sommelier Wine Award winner (2018).
This beauty from the undiscovered Marche is 100% verdicchio. Certified organic, sustainable, vegan and vegetarian too. 13.5% ABV. Refreshing minerality with ripe flavours including wildflower honey. Best with food (chicken, fish, gnocchi etc).
Vermentino can sometines be bland but this is gorgeous. One of Greg's favourite white wines in the shop, delicous with fish and creamy cheese. Delicous as part of the "River Cafe's chicken vermentino" tray bake.
Tuscan Chardonnay at a lot less than Chablis. If you still have PTSD from the oaked Chardonnays of the 1990's this will cure you. Visited the winery, east of Sienna, was treated to a tour and lunch by Angelo D'Albelo.
Zibibbo grapes are grown in western Sicily. This gorgeous wine displays elegant perfumes of a Mediterranean garden, citrus, orange blossom, sage, mint, white rose and acacia tree. Multo plageo, one of our favourite wines this year.
A single vineyard Soave. 70% Garganega/30% Trebbiano di Soave. One for Italian wine lovers. Very long and intense finish. Hints of almond blossom and a touch of acacia honey on the final notes. A repeat purchase for many. A lovely present for others.
£27.25 may seem a lot for a bottle of white wine. This is wonderful and is one of these “must try” wines. Manna? Franz’s wife and “bread of heaven”. 40% Riesling, 20% Chardonnay, 15% Kerner and 10% Sauvignon Blanc. Vegan, vegetarian and sustainable. Beautifully smooth wine with a concentrated palate and steely character. A very clean Trentino white from one of our favourite wineries.
Very unusual blend for the Barolo area (Serralunga d’Alba). Enjoyed it with one of Poon’s, lovely lady in Kippen, Thai curries. 50% Chardonnay, 30 Sauvignon, 15% Riesling and 5% Nascetta. Dry and elegant wine with slightly savoury taste and a refreshing finish.
One of our favourite producers of northern Italian wines. A classic pairing for mild curries, liver pates and white grilled meats. By definition gerwuztraminer is a "marmite" wine but this is excellent. Lychee, orange peel etc.
This fantastic Sicilian Chardonnay has a cult following with some of its customers. If you like Chardonnay, this is one the greats. If you are psychologically scarred from the oaked Chardonnays of the 1990s, this may help your recovery.
As we move south and inland from Galicia to Rueda this 100% Verdejo greets us. Intense, aromatic and just the ticket as an aperitif or with smoked salmon. Also goes well with Brechin artichokes and Methil Asparagus (kidding).
